Magical Christmas show at the Capital Circus of Budapest

The Capital Circus of Budapest is preparing a special Christmas gift for its beloved audience: an all-arts production to help them get in the mood for the most sacred family holiday and escape the rush of everyday life. Based on the short story Which one of the Nine? by Mór Jókai, this Christmas tale is a harmonious synergy of circus arts, music, singing, theatre and puppetry.

Under the direction of Jászai Mari Award-winning director Péter Fekete and with costumes by renowned designer Erzsébet Rátkai, we are plunged into a magical world where the most important values are brought to life through the circus and the performing arts. The role of Master János is played by the Nádasdy Kálmán Award-winning actor György Szomor, while the Neighbour is played by András Faragó. Not unlike the first all-arts production to be staged in the Capital Circus several times over several years, Ludas Matyi in the Circus, the newest production Which One of the Nine? brings along it’s own spectacular sets and designs. For example, in their newest show you will notice a life-like puppet elephant, a zeppelin, a giant Christmas tree, a hot air balloon, giant sail-like fans attached to the performers, on which they project beautiful moving images, and angels descending from the roof in special rotating mechanisms. Band leader László Szakál and dramaturg Levente Pál Dániel have written their own songs for the piece, several of which will be played on the church organ.

As you have become accustomed to, Central Europe’s single, world famous, open all year round circus brings only the best artists from around the Globe. Which  one of the Nine? includes multiple circus festival award-winning artists that will enchant audiences with their superhuman capabilities. The stars of our 2016 show Dima’s Christmas and The International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo Silver Clown Award-winning  Markin Family will perform with their amazing perch act. Juggler Dmitry Chernov has toured the worlds greatest circus’s, where his unique performance and brilliant tricks have captivated audiences and circus professionals alike; he has won awards at numerous circus festivals. The Medel Family are two young sisters from Mexico’s most famous circus dynasty who perform the double washington trapeze, spinning rings, holding each others weight and performing tricks all while balancing on their heads. A fascinating show of knowledge passed down through generations and the trust between sisters. The Kirichenko Acrobats come from the world of gymnastics, combining acrobatics, circus arts and dance to create a spectacular all-round performance in the grand Budapest ring. Wolfgang Lauenburger leads you into the joyful and humerous world of animals with his mixed dog act. From large to small, his varied collection of dogs display a loving and trusting relationship while performing energetic, tail-wagging tricks that are sure to put a smile on your face. The audience will also get a taste of traditional Hungarian circus arts. Rudolf Ádám Jr. will perform juggling on horseback, while Noémi Novákovics will show a woman’s inner struggles in her rope act. Henrik Ádám’s dizzying high-wire performance is guaranteed to take your breath away.
