The short film Stars Like Pins on the Sky (Csillagok, égbeli tűk), produced by the Capital Circus of Budapest, has been officially selected for the 19th I Will Tell International Film Festival (https://iwilltell.com), which will take place in London from September 19 to 29, 2025. The film will be screened on both September 20 and 27 at the Forest Cinema, with a special audience Q&A following the second screening, where the film’s creators will be in attendance (Forest Cinema, Walthamstow, London, 14:30, Fragments of Light).

In addition to short films, the I Will Tell International Film Festival showcases feature-length films, documentaries, and animated works—offering a platform for stories centered on forgiveness, peace, social justice, equality, and environmental awareness. Over the years, several films presented at the festival have gone on to receive prestigious accolades, including BAFTA and Oscar nominations, contributing meaningfully to cultural discourse and inspiring social change.

Stars Like Pins on the Sky had its world premiere at the 49th Open Air Filmfest Weiterstadt in Germany—an event often referred to as the “Woodstock of Short Films,” which this year received over 4,000 submissions from more than 100 countries. The film will next appear before international audiences at the PALARI International Circus Film Festival in Portugal, the 12th MICE Mostra Internacional de Cinema Educatiu in Spain, and the 13th Universal Kids Film Festival in Turkey.

The short film reimagines and builds upon the scenes and performers of the 2024 production of the same name, directed by Péter Fekete at the Capital Circus of Budapest—an acclaimed performance that drew over 150,000 spectators. The film is directed by Glória Halász in collaboration with the Capital Circus’s creative team. It is produced by Péter Fekete, co-produced by Dr. Beáta Borsós, and line-produced by Dániel Levente Pál and András Szilczer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Halász. The film’s choreography is by Kitty Fejes, with an original score composed by Bence Farkas.

Short synopsis

Stars Like Pins on the Sky serves as a poignant metaphor for humanity, swept into the chaos of war yet bearing the immense responsibility for fostering peace. Through the artistry of circus performers and dancers from three continents and five countries – Ethiopia, Hungary, Latvia, Russia, and Ukraine – the film delivers a powerful message in the universal language of circus and dance arts: we are at a critical juncture. If we do not awaken to the urgency of the moment, the sky will collapse, and the earth will be left desolate. Yet, hope remains. We still have time to act, to protect what matters most – our values, treasures, loved ones, heritage, and shared humanity – and to rediscover the art of care, compassion, and stewardship before it’s too late. The film features the artists and performances from the 2024 production of the Capital Circus of Budapest, a show that captivated over 150 000 spectators.
