Strong Hungarian presence at the International Circus Festival of Italy
The International Circus Festival of Italy, one of the world’s most prestigious circus festivals, will take place in Latina from the 13th to the 17th of October. Hungarian circus arts will be represented by four productions, with Hungarian and Ukrainian dancers performing in the opening acts.
The annual Italian International Circus Festival, which has been held since 1999, is once again full of excitement for Hungarian circus fans. Three outstanding artists will participate in the international event with four different acts. József Richter Jr. will perform his solo liberty horse act, with his troupe they will perform a traditional Hungarian jockey number, and Laido Dittmar will perform his new juggling act, while Gabriel Grandpierre will mesmerise the prestigious jury with his handbalancing.
In the festival’s opening and after intermission scenes, Urban Verbunk, an internationally acclaimed group of outstanding Hungarian folk dancers, led by the Gyula Harangozó Award-winning Moussa Ahmed, will take to the stage. Their production will be joined by dancers from the Kyiv Circus and Arts Academy, who are currently under the care of the National Center for Circus Arts in Budapest.
The Hungarian artists have brought home awards from the festival in recent years: three Bronze Awards – Duo Viro in 2010, Krisztián Kristóf in 2013, Bence Baumann in 2016 – and a Silver Award in 2021 for the Richter Kevin Troup. In addition, numerous special prizes were awarded to Hungarian artists.
On behalf of our company, we wish the best of luck to József Richter Jr. and his Troupe, Dittmar Laido and Gabriel Grandpierre for their performances in Latina!
